This includes ensuring that the new family is appropriate for the animal requested and that the home provides a safe environment. Post-adoption checks are also mandatory, with a second if felt necessary. The main purpose of our sanctuary is to provide loving new homes for unwanted pets. We believe we have a duty of care to give them the best second chance possible, and not just the first home offered. Running costs are high as many of our pets need veterinary attention and may be with us for weeks as they recover.

Please view all the ferrets and chinchillas currently for adoption here, or scroll down and click the red ‘Adopt Rodent‘ button to see the ferrets and chinchillas available for adoption. Hutches and runs should be attached, with constant access to both.
CATS FOR REHOMING
Ramsey came into our care as a stray so we have very limited information on his behaviour in a home including housetraining or separation anxiety. He is looking to have someone in the home with him as much as possible as we do not know if he would cope being left home alone. Ramsey can live with children aged 14 years and over and is looking to be the only pet in the home but he would like to walk with dog friends. Angel suits her name as she is a lovely sweet girl who loves a little cuddle. Angel is looking to have a secure garden with a 5ft fence and direct access to the home. Angel would also prefer to have some quieter areas to walk that she wouldn't be overwhelmed with how many dogs she saw.
He is very friendly and loves everyone that he meets, and he’s always keen to say hello. He would benefit by continuing with his basic training as he can be excitable and has no idea of his size, but he is sure to be a very loving addition to his new home. He gets on well with other dogs and has made a lot of doggy friends while staying with us. He does have a lot of energy so will need plenty of exercise and would love to go running or hillwalking with his owners. Poppy is a sweet and affectionate girl who adores human contact and is always happy to have some cuddles and fussing. She is young and very excitable, so will need to continue her training with her new owners as she still has lots to learn and can be quite full on.

We frequently receive visits from adopted dogs and their proud owners. Divorce, redundancy, eviction and, increasingly, emigration, frequently means that pets sometimes return to us. The Woodside Animal Welfare Trust is an animal rehoming charity based on the outskirts of Plymouth in Devon. The foundation of Woodside’s broad field of work was begun in 1974 by Carole Bowles. Her significant contribution to animal welfare was finally recognised in 2000 when she was made an MBE by Her Majesty, The Queen. If you only read the newsletter and pass it on, you will be helping pets in need.

Not yet neutered but will be required as part of adoption contract . She was brought in to us via another rescue as she was no longer wanted by her owner. Shelby was brought in to us by her owner as she could no longer cope. She had already had one litter of kittens and was pregnant again. Unfortunately we don't have any kittens available for rehoming at the moment. Diagnostic imaging allows our veterinarians to look at your pet internally for clues about sickness or injury.

All of our pets are vaccinated neutered i.d chipped, flea treated and wormed, and unlike many we guarantee to take our animals back if things do not work out, or your circumstances change. She was a very shy pup, but once she settled and learned to trust us transformed into the most loving friendly dog and is a firm favourite with a lot of the volunteers. Whisper is a very complex little girl who needs a very quiet and understanding home. Vanna can live with children over the age 10 years and over and she would prefer a retirement home where she can relax and be spoiled with cuddles and affection.
Shadow has had an unsettled past and needs owners who will devote their time to him. TJ is a very happy and friendly boy who wants to be active as much as possible. He has a huge amount of energy, he would love to go running or hill walking with his owner, and he would thrive being involved in an activity like Scent Work, Mantrailing or Agility. TJ can be very boisterous which can become overwhelming, so it is important that he gets all the exercise and stimulation that he requires every day. He will happily walk past other dogs, but due to some issues in past, he can become too focussed on other dogs which makes him anxious.
This means that often pets already in rescue centres are "overlooked" and "forgotten about". Will help toward ensuring the animals receive the veterinary care they need. Our centres will always welcome any generous donations of food, treats, or other items to help us care for animals. We have dedicated a page of the website to the procedure we are now following.

Rolo is looking for an experienced owner who has had Terriers in the past and is comfortable with the Terrier character. He needs an adult only home and doesn’t want to live with other pets. Shelby still needs to be spayed and microchipped but she has had a full vet check, 1st vaccination, is wormed and fleaded up to date, and will also come with 4 weeks free insurance with Petplan. If you are missing a beautiful feline in your home, please fill out a form to register your interest and our re-homing manager will be in touch. Comet and Vixen are microchipped, neutered, have had their 1st vaccination, are up to date with their worming and flea treatment and will also come with 4 weeks free insurance with Petplan.
Will help toward ensuring the animals in our care never go hungry. A wildlife shed to hold wild animals in need of treatment until they can be transported to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre. Cats are well cared for… getting lots of cuddles and affection if they want it. They stay in lovely chalets, some set around a central lounge area and others in a block overlooking grassed areas.
She would be comfortable living with children aged 14 years and over. Sally could be left for up to 3-4 hours but we would recommend gradually building this up as she is settling in. Jingles is a fab boy who came to us through no fault of his own - he absolutely loves to greet people and he really loves a tennis ball! He is unable to live with children so anybody in the house will need to be over 16 years old. Jingles can live with another dog, but he is unable to live with cats.
We understand life can be busy and complicated, which is why we provide a variety of services to make things easier on you and your furry family. Take a look below to see what we offer and contact us with any questions. Responsible pet ownership is actively encouraged and, when funds allow, we send experienced Welfare Officers into deprived areas. Here, they help owners understand their pet’s needs and promote our spay and neuter scheme, which will have prevented thousands of unwanted litters over the years. From the short time Nancy has been here with us we have seen a very excitable happy girl.
She will also up to date with her worming and flea treatment and will also come with 4 weeks free insurance with Petplan. If you would like to meet her, please fill out a form and we can arrange an appointment. Discover more about vet exams and preventive care for kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs.

She is suitable to live with a family with older children (aged 13+) but is looking to be the only cat in the home. He is looking for a home with no other dogs, cats, birds or small animals. Instead of visiting the site, at the moment prospective owners are asked to look through the website and fill in a cat adoption application form or dog adoption application form. We rescue thousands of abused, abandoned and unwanted dogs every year.
Skye does have a medical condition that our veterinary department are more than happy to discuss with any potential adopters. Nancy is looking for a secure garden where she can safely run around. She will be fine to live alone or with another dog depending on how they get on. We do not think that a home with small kids or cats would be suitable for Nancy but would consider children over the age of 8 years old who can respect the dogs needs and wants. We dont know if she has any pervious experiece in a home environment so any potential owner will have to be prepared for things such as house training. Rolo is a typical Terrier who may be smaller in size, but he has a big personality.
